Emulsion bunker maker Quadrise Fuels International (Quadrise) says its Marine MSAR fuel has satisfied "proof of concept" requirements from A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk), setting the stage for commercial production.

A series of Wärtsilä full-engine seaborne tests completed in early June found good engine and emissions performance, and formal completion of MAN engine tests are expected by the end of July.

"The Marine programme has again led the way in 2014, and we are very pleased to have received confirmation from Mærsk that their 'Proof of Concept' requirements have been met, and that we will be moving forward to the commercial phase together," said Quadrise Chairman Ian Williams.

"Having passed several major milestones by mid 2014, the company is well positioned for the next phase."

Quadrise announced in March that it had received an investment to help it move into commercial production.
