International Shipholdings Vessels to Test New Scrubbers
A subsidiary of International Shipholdings Corp., [NYSE:ISH] (International Shipholdings) will test a new scrubber system on two vessels and could ultimately install them on up to 40 additional ships, according to Poly Shield Technologies Inc. (Poly Shield), which produces the systems.
"This Development Agreement with LMS is a significant step forward in achieving our Company's business goals and allowing Poly Shield Technologies Inc. to demonstrate its DSOX-15 Fuel Purification System's capabilities in a real world environment," said CEO Rasmus Norling.
The International Shipholdings subsidiary, LMS Shipmanagement Inc., will install and certify the scrubbers before determining whether to make the additional orders.
The fuel purification system can be installed during normal vessel operation without the need for dry-docking.
The scrubbers use a two-step process involving the injection of an emulsion of fuel and process water into the unit to remove sulfur, as well as other materials such as vanadium, sodium, and calcium, according to Poly Shield's website.
