Gazprom today said a working meeting was held between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Masami Iijima, Representative Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (Mitsui), in order to discuss partnership prospects, with particular attention said to have been paid to the implementation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering plans.

As Ship & Bunker reported in September, Gazprom signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mitsui to cooperate on feasibility and marketing studies related to LNG bunkering in Russia's Far East and the Asia-Pacific region.

The two parties are also said to have discussed a number of other partnership areas, including joint efforts in expanding the Sakhalin II project.

In June, Gazprom announced it was in discussions with Belgium-based Fluxys to pursue joint efforts to develop LNG infrastructure in Europe that would support, among other things, LNG bunkering.
