Los Angeles IFO Falls on Friday

With the exception of a double-digit drop for IFO in Los Angeles, and steady prices in the North America Atlantic region, bunker prices in the Americas were generally firming today.

U.S. Gulf and Caribbean IFO was up as much as $13.00 per metric tonne (pmt), and Curacao was the only place to see falling prices in the region.

South America saw a second day of gains with both IFO380 and MGO typically adding $5.00 pmt to yesterdays price.

The price of IFO380 bunkers in Los Angeles and Long Beach more than corrected yesterday's sharp gain of $14.00 and fell $17.50 to $628.00 pmt on today, down $1.00 week-on-week, and falling $41.50 in the last month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) slipped $16.50 to $739.50, widening the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel by $1.00 to $111.50 pmt, and MGO rose for a third consecutive day up $4.00 to $1042.00 pmt, making a $15.00 gain in the last week.

Houston IFO380 moved up $2.50 to $623.00 pmt, the highest price since October 22, 2012, and up $8.00 week-on-week. LS380 climbed $2.00 to $721.50 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $98.50 pmt. MGO was up $3.50 to $1013.50 pmt, gaining $8.00 since last Friday.

New Orleans IFO380 was up $1.50 to $635.00 pmt, rising $7.00 since last Friday, and gaining $10.50 over the last month. LS380 moved down $0.50 to $729.00 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $94.00 pmt. MGO in the port was up $4.00 to $1013.50 pmt, for a $10.00 week-on-week gain.

Vancouver IFO380 moved up for a third consecutive day rising $1.00 to $636.00 pmt, climbing $3.00 from last week, and down $7.00 since November 28, 2012. LS380 moved up $1.50 to $888.50 making the premium for ECA compliant fuel $252.50 pmt. MGO in Vancouver climbed $2.00 to $1079.00 pmt, $20.00 higher than two weeks ago.
