West Coast Mixed as Gulf, East Coast Bunker Prices Fall

Bunker prices on the U.S. West Coast were mixed at the week's end, Ship & Bunker data showed, while U.S. Gulf and East Coast markets mainly saw prices drop.

Houston IFO380 dropped below $600.00 per metric tonne (pmt) for the first time in a month, falling $6.00 to $599.00 pmt for a week-on-week change of $-9.00. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) fell for a forth consecutive day, down $5.00 to $699.00 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $100.00 pmt.

LA / Long Beach IFO380 followed yesterdays small gain by recovering even more of the big losses seen earlier in the week, rising $11.50 today to $627.00 pmt. LS380 followed a similar pattern, up $16.00 to $724.00 but still down week-on-week with a change of $-19.00.

New York IFO380 continued on its downward trend, today's drop of $5.50 to $607.50 pmt making it a third day of losses and a week-on-week change of $-11.50. Its the lowest price for the product since $603.50 on July 17, 2012 over four months ago. LS380 at the port saw a second day of double digit drops, today falling $10.50 to $667.00, the lowest price since $666.00 on July 3, 2012.

Vancouver IFO380 rounded about a mixed week with a gain of $1.00 to $642.50 pmt, a week-on-week change of $-3.50. LS380 was up $2.00 to $905.00 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $262.50 pmt.
