Bunkering Suspended After Copec Declares Force Majeure in Chile After Earthquake
Chile-based supplier Copec has halted bunker deliveries after an 8.3 magnitude earthquake struck Chile Friday morning, Platts reports.
The company said that it had declared a force majeure on operations, though an unnamed source said that the company had originally had deliveries booked through September 25, 2015.
The company said that its "bunkering schedule is delayed for at least 24 hours. We are unable to continue with [our] program."
A tsunami alert had reportedly been issued to Chilean ports and terminals on Wednesday.
"We had two of our tankers ready to load, but they had to be sent to safe waters, this will delay our deliveries at least 24-30 hours from the times originally scheduled," said an unnamed source.
Meanwhile, operations are reportedly normal in Peru's Port of Callao.
Earlier this year, a force majeure was also called on Petrobras' operations at the Port of Santos after a fuel storage caught on fire.
