MPA in Consultation with IBIA on LNG Bunkering
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has completed an industry consultation session on liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering and is now seeking feedback from the International Bunkering Industry Association (IBIA) on the results, the group said in a message to IBIA administrators.
The consultation period will run up to mid-January, 2014.
The key issues addressed in the report include LNG bunkering standards and procedures, safety standards, safety exclusion zones and emergency procedures, technical specifications for LNG bunker tankers and receiving vessels, mechanisms for measuring LNG quality and quantity, and competency standards for people involved in LNG bunkering.
The report represents a new step in MPA's efforts to begin LNG bunkering in Singapore by 2015.
The organisation announced in November that it had completed a study on standards and procedures for use of the fuel with Lloyd's Register.
