ExxonMobil Hits 2M MT Mass Flow Meter Delivery Milestone in Singapore
ExxonMobil says it has now delivered two million metric tonnes (MT) of fuel using a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) approved mass flow metering system (MFMS), just 6 months after reporting it had reached the one million mt milestone.
Writing in the latest issue of its Voyager marine newsletter, ExxonMobil said MFMSs help marine operators benefit from improved accuracy and integrity of fuel measurement, offering customers potential time and cost savings of up to three hours and US$7,000 per delivery.
In 2012 ExxonMobil became the first bunker supplier to use a mass flow metering system approved by the MPA, and in November 2013 it upgraded a further two bunker tankers, bringing the supplier's number of approved vessels to three.
In April 2014 it announced that it would deliver the majority of bunkers in Singapore using a MPA approved MFMS, shortly before reaching its one million mt delivery milestone in August 2014.
Last year the MPA announced that from January 1, 2017 it will be mandatory to use MFMSs for Marine Fuel Oil (MFO) bunkering in Singapore.
