Singapore Bunker Sales Bounce Back in March

Bunker sales in Singapore during March 2013 rose 9.3 percent month-on-month to 3,362,700 metric tonnes (mt) for all products, according to official data published by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), bouncing back from a three year low of 3,076,400 mt last month.

However the March total was down some 7 percent compared to the same period one year ago, and puts the total sales during the first quarter of 2013 at just under 10.23 million mt, down 143,300 mt compared to the 10.37 million mt sold in the first quarter of 2012.

Sales of benchmark grade IFO380 were up 6.2 percent month-on-month to 2.51 million mt, while low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) rose to 48,800 mt, up 13.7 percent over February's total.

Sales for the port's second most popular grade, 500 cSt, rose to 580,800 mt, 18.1 percent higher than last month's total.

Vessel arrivals were up 11.7 percent at the port to 11,579 compared to 10,363 last month, while bunkers only calls were up 7.5 percent to 3,116 compared to 2,898 in February.
