Chemgas Shipping's vessel, Sefarina, Monday received liquid natural gas (LNG), making it the first LNG bunkering operation at Beatrixhaven, one of Eemshaven Port's docking basins, LNG World News reports.

The 87.2m long and 14.8m wide LNG-powered coastal tanker was built by Shipyard Constructions Hoogezand Nieuwbouw B.V., and received the LNG at Groningen Seaports.

The vessel has two gas tanks with a total capacity of 3,000 cbm, and features a Wärtsilä DF main engine, which can be driven by gasoil or LNG.

Last week, it was reported that GDF SUEZ, Mitsubishi, and Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line (NYK) plan to "develop the LNG bunkering market worldwide".
