International Energy Leaders to Debate Strategies for Securing Asian Gas Demand
PRESS RELEASE
(London, UK). DMG Events Ltd, the business events division of the Daily Mail General Trust PLC, today announced the overall theme of the next global Gastech conference & exhibition, taking place in March 2014 in Seoul, Korea, hosted by Korea's state gas company, the Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).
Rising demands in Asia for reliable, efficient and clean energy means the purchasing and consumption of natural gas has been forced to the top of the political agenda as other fuels (such as coal and nuclear) fall under increased environmental and safety scrutiny. With natural gas – often delivered by ship in the form of liquefied natural gas (LNG) – growing Asian economies have embraced a flexible, plentiful and more efficient form of fuel as a way of achieving economic and social progress quickly. But as gas prices in more developed regions (such as North America and Europe) diminish, continued rising demand in Asia has forced gas & LNG prices to record-levels, and debate around finding solutions has intensified in recent years.
Many key Asian consumers – including Japan, Korea and Taiwan – often pay more than three times as much for their gas in comparison to countries in North America or Europe, and the Gastech 2014 conference will highlight and debate these globally-significant, economically-impactful issues on the opening day of the conference.
Converging under the theme, "Strategies for Securing Asian Gas Demand", global influencers representing those who invest and consume natural gas & LNG, and those who produce and supply will debate and present their views on how this growth in demand can best be met.
International leaders confirmed to speak, representing key companies include: Japan's Tokyo Gas, Korea's KOGAS, The United States' Chevron Corporation, Australia's Woodside Petroleum, Qatar's Rasgas, The UK's BG Group, and France's Total.
Gavin Sutcliffe, Head of Content for the Gastech 2014 event notes;
"Asian consumers of gas are questioning why they pay such high prices for their gas & LNG. Suppliers recognise these issues, and so by taking Gastech to Korea – one of the world's leading consumers of imported gas – we can bring the world's suppliers, together with those who make the key purchasing and contracting decisions from the Asian markets, to have open and frank debate about finding agreeable solutions for everyone. In the next few years, next-waves of LNG supplies will dictate how the market evolves and to whose advantage, making Gastech 2014 a prime place to bring the protagonists together to discuss resolutions."
The Gastech conference & exhibition takes place at KINTEX 1, Seoul, Korea, between the 24th and 27th March 2014.
