Bunker Spill After Shanghai Collision
A CMA CGM containership spilled oil into the mouth of the Yangtze River in Shanghai Tuesday after colliding with another vessel, newspaper the Shanghai Daily reports, based on statements from local maritime officials.
About 674 cubic meters of fuel spilled from the British-registered CMA CGM Florida, stretching for 124 marine miles, according to the officials, who said they were still evaluating the situation.
CMA CGM Florida collided with the Panama-registered Zhoushan, causing a flood of water into one of the Florida's cabins and dislodging some containers.
No dangerous goods were affected by the collision, and no injuries have been reported.
The Florida is a 65,955 deadweight tonne (dwt) ship that operates between China and the U.S., according to CMA CGM's website.
