OW Bunker is reorganising its Asia business into three regional centres as it seeks further growth in the region, the company said in an emailed statement.

The three centres will cover Greater China, South East Asia, and Korea/Japan.

"Asia is a critical area for OW Bunker, where we have realised significant growth over the past few years," said CEO Jim Pedersen.

"However, as a large geographic area, we want to ensure that we are structured in such a way where we can build closer relationships with our customers in local markets, and ensure that they are provided with the dedicated, focused and value-driven service that they need.

"Dividing Asia into key regional centres of operation will enable us to achieve this, and to drive further growth."

Martin Haxholdt will serve as regional manager for Greater China with a base in Shanghai, while Joon Kim will hold that role for Korea/Japan, working in Seoul, and Sonnich Thomsen will lead the South East Asia centre from Singapore.

Paul Bradshaw, the company's general manager for Asia, will leave the company after helping to establish the new structure.

"I would like to thank Paul for his valuable contributions to the development of OW Bunker's Asian operations," Pedersen said.

Analysts have predicted rising bunker demand in Asia due to increases in global trade.
