A small bunker spill was reported Thursday after general cargo ship Jiang Xia Xiang Thursday capsized after collision with tanker Bai Chi (IMO: 9342073) in the Yangtze River, in the Wusong area in Shanghai, local media reports.

The 111 metre long cargo ship was said to be carrying 7,000 tonnes of stone, and received a large breach as a result of the accident and caused it to later capsize near the anchorage.

All 16 crew members were said to be rescued.

The volume of fuel spilled is currently unknown, but reports indicated it was "slight."

The 188 metre long tanker was reportedly carrying 30,000 tonnes of crude oil, and is said to have received no breaches as a result of the collision.

Authorities are reported to be investigating the cause of the accident.

Last week, the Swedish Coast Guard were looking for possible leaks in a fuel tanker carrying 12,000 tonnes of diesel and gasoline, after a collision with a passenger ferry Stena Jutlandica near Gothenburg Harbour.
