Abu Dhabi Ports Wednesday announced that it has renamed its subsidiary Abu Dhabi Marine Services, which provides bunkering and other services at the port, to SAFEEN.

The announcement comes on the heels of news that the company has attained the International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) International Safety Management (ISM) certification and acquired a new tug named Maqtaa.

"The ISM certification coupled with our acquisition of the new tug boat mark the grand launch of our new brand, which gives utmost value to servicing our esteemed clients," said Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports.

"These achievements prove that this makeover is about achieving substantial improvement in the capacity and quality of our marine services, which play a major role in the region's maritime industry."

SAFEEN says it offers a wide range of services in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi, including bunkering, tug services, towage, pilotage, vessel trafficking services (VTS), mooring, Bollard pull test, quayside services, issuing of permits, diving services, ferry management, navigational services, and marine workshop services.

In December, Ship & Bunker reported on a series of planned upgrades to Abu Dhabi's Al Mirfa Port have been completed, including new bunkering facilities that will enable the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) to provide fuel to vessels using an offshore platform.
