Operations at Egypt's Port of Said SCCT terminal were halted Tuesday after the 13,092 TEU Cosco Hope hit a gantry crane.

Local media reports indicated the stop was on electrical safety grounds after a fire broke out.

The incident occurred around midnight, when the crane fell onto a number of containers, sparking the fire.

Conflicting reports about the fire's cause suggest that it stemmed from either a crane hitting a fuel tank or that the damaged containers may have contained flammable goods.

While the Suez Canal Authority is reported to have successfully extinguished the flames, approximately 20 containers are said to have been damaged and four people were injured during the incident.

The container ship is not reported to have sustained significant damage.
