Quadrise Pushes Ahead with Emulsion Bunker Project in Saudi Arabia
Maker of Multiphase Superfine Atomized Residue (MSAR) emulsion bunkers, Quadrise Fuels International plc (Quadrise) Wednesday announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance its production to combustion trial in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The MoU is said to "define the basis of collaboration" between Quadrise and its clients to progress the trial at refinery and power plant facilities within Saudi Arabia.
As Ship & Bunker previously reported, Quadrise said the implementation of the economic reform plan "Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030" had slowed the clients' decision making process, and was likely to delay the project's timeline into the spring of 2017.
While the company says it cannot provide firm project timelines, as they will depend on preparatory phase work, Quadrise expects the schedule to now be extended beyond the Spring of 2017.
"We have been working hard with our partners and our clients in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during 2016 and are delighted that we have now been able to execute the MOU. This is a critical enabler to commence the preparations to bring this project to reality," said Mike Kirk, Quadrise Executive Chairman.
"We remain confident of demonstrating the value of Quadrise MSAR technology in Saudi Arabia on a commercial scale with combustion testing at a major power utility in what promises to be a significant project for the Kingdom, well aligned with its Vision 2030 Programme."
In July, Quadrise announced that it had made "excellent progress" since March, having produced and delivered its first batch of its MSAR emulsion bunkers, which are now being trialed in a Maersk Line vessel.
