Greek Strike Slows Fuel Oil Deliveries
Thursday July 18, 2013
A 24-hour strike by Greek unions at the port of Piraeus Tuesday affected the prompt loading and delivery of fuel oil, Platts reports.
"Customs authorities are not signing papers, in support of the protesters," one bunker source said.
"Same day deliveries are [being] postponed."
Another bunker-industry source said the state-run Hellenic Petroleum refineries temporarily terminated loadings and deliveries but later resumed the loading of previously scheduled barges.
Traders reported only minor impact on the local bunker market.
The price of ISO 380 fuel hit a recent high of $630.50 per metric tonne (mt) Monday, but dropped a bit to $623 per mt Tuesday, according to Ship and Bunker data.
