Following an attempted coup in Turkey at the weekend, Ali Deniz Eraydin, Chairman, Turkish Bunker Association says bunkering in the country has not been affected.

"There has been no delay or interruption for bunker supplies in Istanbul during this unfortunate attempt," he said.

"Istanbul Strait was closed for security reasons for a while. On 16th July 2016 morning strait traffic was back to normal. All Turkish Ports, Customs, port authorities, ship supply components and bunker supply elements are working normal."

One local physical player confirmed to Ship & Bunker it was unaffected by the events and had supplied several of its customers' vessels over the weekend without issue.

Bunker prices in Istanbul were also stable Monday.

The failed coup attempt by some members of the military began Friday evening but was quickly quashed.

Some 6,000 members of the judiciary and military, including high-ranking soldiers and some 2,500 judges, are reported to have been detained as a result, and some 8,000 police officers have been suspended, the BBC reports.
