OceanConnect Marine has recently made three new hires across its offices in London, Dubai, and Stamford, US, the Bunker trading and brokerage firm has told Ship & Bunker.

James Nash has joined OceanConnect Marine as Regional Director in Dubai, with responsibility for expanding the company's presence in the Middle East and sub-continent.  .

Nash has 10 years of experience as a bunker trader and previously held posts with Cockett Marine Oil in their offices in the United Kingdom, Dubai, and South Africa.

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at OceanConnect Marine. We are looking to strengthen our marketing activities in the region to expand the company's customer relationships," said Nash.

"First-rate service is the priority and focus. I look forward to many new challenges and opportunities ahead."

Ethan Ram, Chief Operating Officer of OceanConnect Marine, commented: "As a company we broke or trade a significant volume of marine fuels in the U.A.E., and in several of the key ports, such as Fujairah, we are the largest broker-trader. We think it is an excellent time to leverage our strengths to expand our customer relationships in the region, and James is the ideal candidate to lead this effort."

Giulio Fiertler, meanwhile, has joined OceanConnect Marine as a trader based in London.

"Fiertler is already well known in the bunkering circle, previously working as a bunker trader at KPI Bridge Oil and Integr8.  He has also worked for Grimaldi Group and ACM Shipping in commercial operations and chartering/brokerage," said OceanConnect Marine.

"Hence, Giulio brings a deep knowledge of shipping and bunkering which enables him to understand and anticipate customer needs. His fluency in English, Spanish and French is also a great asset."

Finally, Darrell Cardoza has joined the company's US team in Stamford, Connecticut.

"Cardoza's career in bunker trading and broking spans over 35 years.  After stints with Mitsubishi Corp and British Petroleum, he and a partner formed Island Marine Oil Brokers which Cardoza owned and operated for 15 years, ultimately selling the company to Bunkers International for whom he has worked for the last seven years," explained OceanConnect Marine.

"I have known and respected the management and staff here for many years, so for me it was an easy fit," said Cardoza.

"Most people know of OceanConnect Marine for its reverse auction website, but today the company's core business is trading and traditional brokerage. It's brokers are some of the best in the industry, and the company's strong financial backing gives us great trading range."

Commenting on Cardoza's appointment, Ram said: "We are extremely pleased that Darrell has joined our company. He knows the bunker industry in and out, and he has a reputation for providing customers with reliable and consistent service.

"Not only is he a great addition to our sales team, he is an ideal mentor to our trainees and junior traders looking to make the next step in their careers."
