The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) today announced that Captain Peter Hall will step down as its CEO, having decided to retire.

Hall is set to stay on as the head of IBIA until a new CEO is appointed and has settled in.

"Peter has been key in increasing IBIA’s impact in the bunker sector, growing IBIA’s membership by 210 percent from 427 to 890 members over the three years he has been in charge, and significantly boosting IBIA’s role in providing events and training, both regionally and globally," said IBIA.

"The footprint of IBIA’s influence has seen a quantum change under Peter’s leadership."

Prior to his three years as IBIA's CEO, Hall was both CEO and Harbour Master at the Port of Gibraltar, a role that is said to have enabled him to effectively expand IBIA's impact on port procedures through the IBIA Port Charter, encouraging good bunker practices at global ports.

"This innovation, initiated by Peter, will continue as IBIA responds to requests in Panama, Jamaica, and a number of Asian ports. Peter has also very strongly supported IBIA Asia Ltd’s efforts in Singapore to facilitate the introduction of mass flow meters by providing the training of managerial and technical staff," said IBIA.

"IBIA has grown in Africa and the adjacent islands as a direct result of Peter's vision, strategy and personal efforts."

The announcement came as IBIA declared last week's convention in Gibraltar one of its "best annual conventions ever," with more than 150 people from over 20 countries having attended.
