Marine fuel prices in North America lacked direction today, according to Ship & Bunker data, while Southern America's prices showed positive movements after a number of days of low activity, particularly on the Atlantic coast, where Brazil saw gains of $5.00 to $10.00 per metric tonne (pmt) for all products.
Houston IFO380 moved down for the first time since January 17, 2013 falling $1.00 to $628.00 pmt, an increase of $4.50 since this time last week, and up $14.00 month-on-month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) moved up $1.50 to $728.00 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $100.00 pmt. MGO climbed $4.00 to $1016.00 pmt, up $9.50 week-on-week.
LA / Long Beach IFO380 moved up for a third consecutive day climbing $5.50 to $634.50 pmt, $0.50 higher than last Wednesday. LS380 rose $4.00 to $767.00 making the premium for the low sulfur product $132.50 pmt. MGO in the port rose $3.00 to $1034.00 pmt, down $4.00 week-on-week.
New Orleans IFO380 fell $2.00 to $637.00 pmt, $2.00 lower than the previous Wednesday, and up $11.50 since December 24, 2012. LS380 rose $2.00 to $734.50 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $97.50 pmt. MGO rose $2.50 to $1019.00 pmt, up $3.00 week-on-week.
Vancouver IFO380 moved up $1.50 to $638.00 pmt, $2.50 higher than last Wednesday, and an increase of $6.00 month-on-month. LS380 moved up $7.50 to $883.50 making the premium for the low sulfur grade $245.50 pmt. MGO in Vancouver remained at $1062.00 pmt, falling $6.50 week-on-week.
