Mixed Bunker Price Movements Continue in North America

North American bunker prices remained mixed on Thursday, with Ship & Bunker data showing U.S. Gulf and Caribbean prices were generally soft after gains in the region yesterday.

Houston IFO380 was steady at $656.00 per metric tonne (pmt), $4.00 higher than last Thursday, and up $28.00 month-on-month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) remained at $752.00 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $96.00 pmt. MGO was down $0.50 to $1064.50 pmt, $6.50 higher week-on-week.

LA / Long Beach IFO380 fell for a second consecutive day slipping $17.00 to $667.00 pmt, down $27.00 over the last two days and $5.50 week-on-week. LS380 moved down $6.00 to $794.00 making the premium for the low sulfur product $127.00 pmt. MGO moved up $7.50 to $1125.50 pmt, the highest price since September 18, 2012.

New Orleans IFO380 moved up $0.50 to $656.00 pmt, up $1.50 week-on-week, and $15.50 higher month-on-month. LS380 dropped $0.50 to $746.00 making the premium for the low sulfur product $90.00 pmt. MGO was steady at $1066.00 pmt, $9.50 higher than this time last week.

Vancouver IFO380 moved up for a fourth consecutive day rising $1.50 to $671.00 pmt, $12.00 higher than last Thursday, and up $37.00 from January 14, 2013. LS380 climbed $1.00 to $906.50 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $235.50 pmt. MGO fell for the first time since February 7, 2013 down $4.00 to $1142.50 pmt, up $31.50 week-on-week.
