Bunker Prices Mostly Firm in North America
Bunker prices in North America were somewhat mixed today, although Ship & Bunker data showed IFO380 prices were down in some ports including Los Angeles / Long Beach and New Orleans. Prices in South America also saw losses with IFO380 in Rio de Janeiro falling $5.00 pmt.
Houston IFO380 was up for an eighth consecutive market day gaining $1.00 to $649.00 per metric tonne (pmt), $14.50 higher than last Monday, and an increase of $19.00 month-on-month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) moved down $1.00 to $748.50 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $99.50 pmt. MGO moved up $6.50 to $1043.00 pmt, making a week-on-week gain of $23.50.
LA / Long Beach IFO380 fell for the first time since January 18, 2013 dropping $1.00 to $671.50 pmt, up $13.00 week-on-week, and $22.50 higher than January 4, 2013. LS380 climbed $6.00 to $795.00 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $123.50 pmt. MGO was up $25.50 to $1082.50 pmt, an increase of $16.50 week-on-week.
New Orleans IFO380 dropped for the first time since January 23, 2013 falling $1.00 to $653.00 pmt, up $11.50 from last Monday, and an increase of $12.00 month-on-month. LS380 slipped $1.00 to $753.50 making the premium for the low sulfur product $100.50 pmt. MGO in the port was steady at $1036.00 pmt, $16.00 higher week-on-week.
Vancouver IFO380 moved up for a sixth consecutive market day rising $1.00 to $652.50 pmt, an increase of $12.50 week-on-week, and $14.50 higher than this time last month. LS380 moved up $2.00 to $893.00 making the premium for the low sulfur grade $240.50 pmt. MGO in Vancouver rose $9.00 to $1101.50 pmt, $30.50 higher than last Monday.
