US Markets Quiet on Thanksgiving Holiday
With the U.S. observing the Thanksgiving public holiday North American bunker prices saw little activity on Thursday, while many ports in South America kept on a firming trend and made some small gains.
Houston IFO380 was steady at $610.00 per metric tonne (pmt) up $1.00 on the previous Thursday and $14.50 since November 8, 2012. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) moved up $0.50 to $711.50 pmt gaining $19.00 in two weeks and dropping $13.50 since October 22, 2012. MGO at the port moved up for a fourth consecutive day adding $2.00 to bring the price to $1022.00 for a week-on-week gain of $27.50 pmt.
New York IFO380 had no change at $628.50 pmt, also the same price as last Thursday but down $5.00 in the last month. LS380 moved up for the first time since November 16, 2012 and gained $6.50 to $696.50 pmt making the premium for the low sulfur grade $68.00 pmt. MGO in New York moved up for a fourth consecutive day rising $3.50 to $1051.00 pmt.
Los Angeles / Long Beach IFO380 gained $1.50 to $672.00 pmt falling $1.00 from last Thursday's price and down $3.00 over the past month. LS380 was up $2.50 to $759.00 pmt down $2.00 week-on-week, marginally widening today's premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel to $87.00 pmt.
New Orleans 380 cSt product climbed $0.50 to $617.50 for a weekly change of $3.00 and losing $12.00 over the past month. MGO in New Orleans was also up $0.50 moving the price to $1021.50 pmt and adding $16.50 to the November 8, 2012 price.
Vancouver IFO380 was steady at $651.50 pmt gaining $16.00 week-on-week and down $18.00 since October 22, 2012. MGO at the port was up $2.50 to $1100.50 pmt adding $17.50 to last Thursday's price.
