BP Head Analyst to Move to Noble
BP Plc. (BP)'s head oil analyst for Asia has left the company and intends to join Noble Group Ltd. (Noble) [SGX:N21] in Singapore, Bloomberg reports.
Giovanni Serio, 39, resigned at the end of 2012 and will start at Noble in April, where he will lead the global commodities research team, according to four unnamed sources said to be familiar with the matter.
Serio served as head of market analysis in Asia for BP's Singapore-based supply and trading division and previously worked for Goldman Sachs until 2009.
BP fuel oil trader Koh Leong Tech also left the Singapore office this month, and the company hired Steven Taylor from Macquarie Group Ltd. to lead Asia crude trading in Singapore.
In 2009, Reuters reported on Serio's departure from Goldman Sachs as part of a trend of Wall Street traders moving to jobs in physical trading.
Hong Kong-headquartered Noble Group trades a variety of commodities, including agricultural and energy products and metals, minerals and ores and has more than 140 locations, according to its website.
