Another Singapore registered tanker was detained last week by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) the Malaysian government news agency BERNAMA has reported.

On July 11, 2012 the 7,000 dwt tanker MT Titan Loyalty was said to be illegally anchored in the waters off Pengerang, Johor.

First Admiral Adon Shalan, Chief of the Southern Region Maritime Enforcement, said the vessel was seized at 11.43am, 2.6 nautical miles south of Tanjung Stapa and had also failed to pay its light dues.

"The ship was carrying a crew of nine Indonesians when detained. All of them, including the chief engineer and assistant captain, were brought to the agency's office for further investigation," he added.

According to the report, the case was investigated under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 and Federation Light Dues Act 1953.

The news follows six tankers and a barge being detained by the MMEA on July 3, 2012 in the same waters, an incident which included another Titan vessel, the MT Titan Wisdom.
