Poland's Ciech Trading S.A. (Ciech) is "eager" to undertake joint investment in the field of bunkering, among others, with the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC), Iranian media reports.

The news comes on the heels of a meeting that is part of the two companies' negotiations toward the launch of a joint shipping firm for the transportation of crude oil, petrochemicals, and liquefied gas.

"We are eager to begin joint investment in a wide variety of fields like bunkering as well as carrying of petrochemical products and liquefied natural gas (LNG)," said Tomasz Grzela, Managing Director of Ciech, said at the meeting.

Sirous Kianersi, Managing Director of NITC, says the company is ready to work to strengthen relationships with Polish companies across a number of areas, specifically within the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport.

Kianersi says Iran, hoping to boost its exports, welcomes efforts to establish joint venture companies between the Iran and Poland.

In June, Ship & Bunker reported that Iran was moving forward with its plan to develop Qeshm Island with a host of new facilities - including a bunkering operation billed as "the biggest of its kind in the Persian Gulf."
