Gazpromneft Marine Bunker (Gazpromneft) says the first half of 2017 saw the company increase its sales of marine fuel in Russia's Northwest by 16 percent year-on-year, selling 516,800 tonnes during the period.

The company says that positive dynamics of the bunkering market in the Northwest has been ensured by active development of the Northern Sea Route (NSR) - particularly in Murmansk, where Gazpromneft increased shipments 2.2 times to 133.2 thousand tonnes.

Meanwhile, across Baltic ports, Gazpromneft sold 72,400 tonnes of ultra-low sulfur fuel, a 24 percent increase from the same period in 2016.

"The main vector of the company's development today, in the conditions of dynamically changing market conditions, for us is the increase of business efficiency. And in the first half of this year we have made significant progress in this direction," said Andrei Vasiliev, Director General of Gazpromneft Marine Bunker.

"The growth of indicators in the highly competitive market of the North-West region means that we managed to build an optimal model of work, successfully adapt to new external conditions, which makes it possible to continue the forward movement of the company to achieve the goals outlined in the long-term strategy."

Late last month, Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd (Gazpromneft-Lubricants) announced that the company had sold 7.4 thousand tonnes of marine lubricants in the first half of 2017 - a 7.5 percent year-on-year increase.
