The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has announced in an emailed statement plans to help companies and individuals impacted by the collapse of OW Bunker.

IBIA CEO Peter Hall said the association would offer free membership to all ex-employees of OW Bunker impacted by last week's events.

"[IBIA membership] will provide them with access to an independent forum where their details can be made rapidly available to others in the industry including employers who are picking up the business previously conducted by OW," said Hall.

IBIA also said it would be taking part in dialogue sessions in Singapore led by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) aimed at ensuring the continuation of smooth bunker operations.

The association said it was ready to offer such services to companies at European ports as well.

"This is an unprecedented occurrence and our thoughts are with the very large number of competent hardworking ex-employees now urgently in need of support and industry contact," said Hall of last week's events and the ongoing fallout from OW Bunker's collapse.

"It is important that dialogue is maintained across the supply chain and we are pleased to be able to support the Singapore bunkering community."

Yesterday the MPA said it expected minimal disruption to bunkering operations in Singapore following OW Bunker's exit from the market.
