Shell Becomes IMPA ACT Accredited Lube Supplier

Shell Marine has received accreditation under the IMPA ACT Sustainable Maritime Suppliers scheme.

Shell Marine today announced that it has received accreditation as a lubricant supplier under the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) ACT Sustainable Maritime Suppliers scheme.

Jan Toschka, Executive Director Shell Marine, commenting on the development, says it "is imperative that our own strict code of ethics is fit to stand up to the scrutiny of external parties. That's why we see this recognition under the IMPA ACT scheme as particularly important.

"Our customers also confirm that the IMPA ACT preferred supplier status is being used as a benchmark for quality throughout the supply chain."

The Preferred Supplier accreditation is conferred under the IMPA Responsible Supply Chain Management Initiative, which is intended to improve the economic, social and environmental sustainability of international shipping and marine industries.

Members of the scheme include ship owners and managers that have committed to implement the IMPA ACT Supplier Code of Conduct within their company and through their supply chain.

"IMPA ACT is an exclusive community of ship purchasers and suppliers working to become sustainability frontrunners by working towards compliance with internationally endorsed standards," said Stephen Alexander, IMPA Secretary General & COO.

"It is an independent initiative representing international best practice and is aligned with UN principles."

In November, Shell Marine announced that it had added new locations to its global port network, including ports in Australia, China, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia.
