OW Bunker Collapse: SØIK Aiming to Conclude Criminal Liability Investigation in 2016
Morten Jakobsen, state prosecutor for Denmark's Serious Economic and International Crime (SØIK) says he hopes a determination on whether there was any criminal liability in the 2014 collapse of former bunker giant OW Bunker will be made next year, Danish media reports.
Jakobsen also says a new report released by OW Bunker's bankruptcy trustees will be taken into consideration within the organisation's own investigation into the company's demise.
"We have throughout this process worked closely with the trustees in the case, and the report is now on the table is part of our ongoing investigation," said Jakobsen.
"I hope that at some point during 2016, draw a line in the sand and say we think there are grounds for a criminal liability or not."
On Wednesday, Ship & Bunker reported that Morten Schwartz Nielsen, president of the OW Bunker Investor Association, has welcomed the new report, saying it will make it easier for the company's shareholders to get their money back.
