The Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha [TYO:9101] (NYK Line) car carrier Lord Vishnu on Saturday suffered severe damage after it collided with two bunker barges at the Southern Fairway at the Sudong Holding Anchorage in Singapore, according to a report by SeaNews.

The Ro-Ro vessel departed Singapore at 9:15 pm on the previous Friday, June 20, and the collision occurred on June 21, 2014 at 4:00 am.

The 2008 built Lord Vishnu was said to have suffered several large holes both at and above the water line amidships on port side, but there have been no reports of any bunkers spilled as a result of the incident.

Earlier today the vessel was reported under way in Singapore at a reduced speed, possibly moving to a ship repair facility.

In May, BIMCO, the Directorate-General of Sea Transportation of Indonesia, the Malaysia Marine Department of Malaysia, and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) issued the navigational guidelines and best practices pamphlet "Safe Passage: The Straits of Singapore and Malacca" after bunker spills occurred in Singapore following 3 collisions over a 13 day period.
