4 Suppliers in 4 Months Exit Singapore Bunker Market
Four suppliers have dropped out of the Singapore bunker market over the last four months according to official Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) data.
The latest list of Accredited Bunker Suppliers shows that as of October 8, 2012 there are a total of 73 companies authorised to supply bunkers in the world's largest bunkering port by volume, down from 77 for the June 15, 2012 list.
Bakri Trading Co (Asia) Pte Ltd, Hir Huat Trading Pte Ltd, Ocean Energy Bunkering Pte Ltd, and Sanko Oil (Pte) Ltd are the companies no longer authorised to supply bunkers.
None of the firms existing were listed in the 2010 or 2011 top 20 suppliers by volume in the port.
As the latest figures up to August 2012, the year to date average monthly volume of fuel sold in the port now stands at 3.619 million metric tonnes (mt) making the 12 month sales projection 43.424 million mt, slightly above 2011's total volume for all products of 43.153 million mt, which is also the port's current record for annual sales.
