Greek authorities are responding to what has been described as significant pollution after the 5,553 DWT general cargo ship, Cabrera, ran aground on the island of Andros' rocky north coast early Saturday morning during intense wind, rain, and poor visibility, local media reports.

The Hellenic Navy, which responded to the grounded vessel to successfully evacuate all nine crew,  shared a video (below) which suggests the sinking vessel is a total loss.

The cargo ship is said to have been transporting iron from Greece to Finland at the time of the grounding.

The Antigua Barbuda-flagged Cabrera is noted to be owned by Reederei Erwin Strahlmann GmbH & Co. KG.
