Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, operator of the Gazprom Neft bunkering business, Thursday reported that in 2015 the company enjoyed sales growth of 22 percent in marine fuels at the Black Sea ports of Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Sochi, Taman, Kavkaz, and Temryuk.

Total sales for onboard bunkering reached 795,000 tonnes over the course of the year.

On-board bunkering volumes throughout Russia's Black Sea region were also reported to be up by 22 percent, reaching 682,000 tonnes.

According to a press release, the "2015 results indicate that Gazpromneft Marine Bunker is now the market-leading marine fuels supplier in the Black Sea region, with a market share of 20.3 percent."

"Marine transportation in the Black Sea region is seeing rapid development, creating demand for bunkering services," said Gazpromneft Marine Bunker CEO Andrei Vasiliev.

The company also noted that it acquired a new bunkering vessel, the Gazpromneft Omsk, which was deployed at Novorossiysk.

The vessel has a deadweight of 5,372 tonnes and is the third in the Gazpromneft Marine Bunker Black Sea fleet.

The company also announced it had initiated the "modernisation" of the company's transhipment complex, which will see the on-loading and offloading handling area increased, as well as a two-fold expansion of the receiving terminal (tank farm).

Energy efficiency, environmental protection, and workplace safety features at the facility were also said to be improved.

"The further development of our assets in the Black Sea will allow us to realise the full potential of this market, while strengthening the company's position within it," said Vasiliev.

In August of 2015 Ship & Bunker reported that the company's sales had risen through the first six months of the year.
