Spanish shipbuilder Gabadi S.L. has signed a technical assistance and license agreement (TALA) with engineering firm Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) allowing it to build liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering tankers using GTT membrane containment systems, GTT announced.

"We are delighted to be the first outfitter having the Technical Service Agreement with GTT for the maintenance and refit work on all type of GTT Membrane," said Gabadi Managing Director Antonio José Llago Hermida.

"Today we are honored again to become the first promoter to achieve the TALA, recognizing our expertise and capabilities after a long effort and more than 10 years of work on GTT membrane containment systems"

Gabadi and GTT will offer turnkey solutions for shipyards and shipowners, including for small LNG carriers as well as bunkering systems.

"We are very happy to count Gabadi among our partners," said GTT CEO Philippe Berterottière.

"This new kind of license will allow ship-owners and shipyards to call on qualified and trained outfitters, in order to reduce their investment while ensuring the excellence required by GTT."

GTT also has a new deal with DNV GL and Hanjin to collaborate on a LNG-fuelled large container vessel using its membrane systems.
