Liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering is now available at the Euroservices Terminal at Zeebrugge, Belgium after the first such refuelling operation in late June, terminal operator Hoppe Marine Group said in a statement.

Anthony Veder multi-purpose LNG carrier Coral Methane called at the terminal and received LNG cargo and fuel by truck from GDF SUEZ LNG Solutions (GDF SUEZ).

"We are pleased to announce from now on that our terminal is compatible to handle LNG in case of purging, conditioning and bunkering," said Euroservices General Manager Stefaan Hoppe.

"Our terminal will play an important role in the preparation and conditioning of small scale LNG-vessels."

The operation included purging of the vessel's cargo tanks with nitrogen and gas up and cool down operations.

"We are happy that we could show our expertise in LNG bunkering of a ship by a tanker truck and that the customer was satisfied with our service," said Anton Aarts, GDF SUEZ's commercial manager.

GDF SUEZ is working with Mitsubishi and Nippon Yusen Kaisha Line (NYK Line) to provide LNG from a bunkering vessel at Zeebrugge starting in late 2016.
