Bunker sales at the port of Falmouth, UK, appear to have dropped off in February following a busy January, local media reports.

Sales are understood to have risen at the port as new ships sought to bunker with Emissions Control Area (ECA)-compliant fuels.

A total of 77 ships bunkered at Falmouth in January, many of which are said to have taken on marine gasoil (MGO), but stemming lists for February suggest a return to normal levels.

According to the report, Falmouth pilots have reported that a number of ships' engines are performing sluggishly at times and some are failing to start, however it did not say whether this was a result of fuel switchovers.

Late last year, P&I club Skuld warned members that they should take care during switchover procedures in order to avoid losses of propulsion.
