Preparations for the commercial commissioning of the Świnoujście liquefied natural gas (LNG) Terminal in Poland are drawing close to completion, and Polskie LNG S.A. (Polskie LNG) last week invited all interested parties to submit comments and suggestions in relation to the draft Świnoujście LNG Terminal Code, local media reports.

"The proposed draft of the code is determined by legislation, as well as the strive to offer the uncontracted capacity of the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście to all interested market players," explains the company.

While it is not clear exactly when LNG bunkering will be offered at the new terminal, in its marketing materials for the project, Polskie LNG has noted that bunkering services are "very important," and the 0.10 percent sulfur cap on bunkers used within Emissions Control Areas meant there was a "big opportunity" for the LNG terminal in Świnoujście."

Last year, Ship & Bunker reported that the Port of Świnoujście was set to receive funding from the EU to prepare an area for a LNG bunkering facility.
