International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) has announced that Cliff Brand is to step down as its Chief Executive on March 28, 2013 to take up the role of Marine Director with King Abdullah Economic City Seaport in Saudi Arabia.

Brand took up the position at the end of October 2012, meaning he will have been in the role for just 5 months.

"Obviously we are sorry to see Cliff Brand leave, but fully understand his reasons for doing so and
wish him all the best in his exciting new role," said IBIA Chairman Nigel Draffin.

"The search for a new chief executive is now underway and we expect to have someone in place shortly. The organisation is in good hands and we will continue to support our membership by providing them with technical information and lobbying services."

IBIA said board member Trevor Harrison will act as interim chief executive until a replacement is found.

Harrison previously acted as IBIA chief executive for the 15 months prior to Brand's appointment, following former CEO Ian Adams' resignation in July 2011.
