U.S. Pump Maker Nets Orders for LNG Fuel Gas Equipment
ACD LLC (ACD), a U.S. cryogenic pumps and turbomachinery manufacturer, says it will supply high-pressure liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel gas pump systems for the world's first LNG-powered containerships.
The ships, which will be built in San Diego for TOTE Inc., will use two of the pumps with gearbox assemblies and electric 132kW motors, as well as an external oil lubrication system, piping, control valves, and monitoring equipment.
General Dynamics NASSCO said last year that TOTE subsidiary TOTE Shipholdings had hired it to build the ships, which are expected to be the largest LNG-powered vessels in the world.
The ships are being built at NASSCO's shipyard in San Diego and will operate between Jacksonville, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
ACD also said Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME) has hired it to engineer and supply two LNG pump systems for M-type Electronically Controlled, Gas Injection (ME-GI)-powered gas carriers that the South Korean shipyard is building for TEEKAY Shipping Ltd.
That fuel system includes pumps with gearbox assemblies, and electric 150kW inverter duty motors, and an external oil lubrication system and aVWP-190-10 water/glycol vaporizer supplied by cryogenic industries company Cryoquip Inc.
TEEKAY has said the carriers will support the U.S. Sabine Pass LNG export facility under five-year contracts with Cheniere Marketing LLC.
