IFO Continues to Rise in Houston

Bunker prices in the Americas were mostly firm today, with IFO380 in Houston, Los Angeles, and New York moving up for a third consecutive day, according to Ship & Bunker data.

Houston IFO380 was up $5.00 to $630.00 per metric tonne (pmt), making a $7.00 gain week-on-week, and the highest price since October 17, 2012. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) moved up $5.00 to $727.00 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $97.00 pmt. MGO was down $4.50 to $1006.50 pmt, ending the week $7.00 lower than last Friday.

LA / Long Beach IFO380 rose $1.50 to $649.00 pmt, a $21.00 increase from last Friday, and $3.50 higher than December 4, 2012. LS380 moved up $1.50 to $761.50 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $112.50 pmt. MGO in the port moved down $3.50 to $1052.00 pmt, a $10.00 increase week-on-week.

New York IFO380 moved up $4.00 to $626.00 pmt, up $5.00 week-on-week, and the highest price since November 27, 2012. LS380 rose $5.00 to $678.50 making the premium for the low sulfur product $52.50 pmt. MGO was steady at $1040.00 pmt, down $1.50 from last Friday.

Vancouver IFO380 moved down $2.00 to $638.00 pmt, making a gain of $2.00 from last Friday, and down $9.50 since December 4, 2012. LS380 moved down $1.50 to $884.50 making the premium for the low sulfur grade $246.50 pmt. MGO moved down $1.50 to $1077.00 pmt, down $2.00 week-on-week.
