Ship & Bunker data showed the week opening with prices firm in North America, and Los Angeles / Long Beach IFO making a double-digit gain today. Carnival and other public holidays saw many markets in the Americas closed or quiet, and South American markets showed little change.
Houston IFO380 climbed for a fourth market day up $0.50 to $654.00 per metric tonne (pmt), $5.00 higher than this time last week, and an increase of $20.00 month-on-month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) rose $1.00 to $755.00 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $101.00 pmt. MGO rose $4.50 to $1063.00 pmt, up $20.00 week-on-week.
LA / Long Beach IFO380 moved up for a fourth market day rising $18.00 to $693.50 pmt, rising $22.00 week-on-week, and $48.00 higher than this time last month. LS380 moved up $12.00 to $809.50 making the ECA compliant fuel $116.00 pmt. MGO in the port moved up $2.50 to $1101.50 pmt, an increase of $42.00 since last Monday.
New Orleans IFO380 climbed for a third consecutive market day up $1.50 to $657.00 pmt, $4.00 higher than last Monday, and up $12.50 month-on-month. LS380 was up $1.50 to $751.00 making the premium for the low sulfur product $94.00 pmt. MGO in New Orleans rose $2.50 to $1061.50 pmt, an increase of $25.50 week-on-week.
Vancouver was quiet as the province of British Columbia celebrated its first Family Day holiday. IFO380 moved up $0.50 to $659.00 pmt, $6.50 higher week-on-week, and up $25.50 since January 11, 2013. LS380 climbed $5.50 to $904.50 making the premium for the low sulfur product $245.50 pmt. MGO was up $3.00 to $1117.00 pmt, rising $15.50 since last Monday.
