Bunker Prices Continue to Rise in the Americas
Bunker prices across the Americas continued to trend up on Wednesday, with Ship & Bunker data showing Houston IFO380 moving up for a fifth consecutive market day and reaching its highest price in more than three months. IFO in the South America Atlantic region rose as much as $10.00 per metric tonne (pmt), with IFO380 in the Brazilian port of Suape having now gained $17.00 pmt over the last two days.
Houston IFO380 climbed $2.00 to $639.00 pmt, the highest price since $642.00 on October 11, 2012, and up $19.00 month-on-month. Low sulfur 380 cSt product (LS380) rose $4.00 to $737.50 making the premium for the Emissions Control Area (ECA) compliant fuel $98.50 pmt. MGO was up $3.00 to $1027.00 pmt, the highest price since October 23, 2012.
LA / Long Beach IFO380 moved up for an eighth consecutive market day gaining $1.50 to $664.50 pmt, up $30.00 week-on-week, and an increase of $37.00 month-on-month. LS380 was unchanged at $783.00 making the premium for the low sulfur fuel $118.50 pmt. MGO rose $8.50 to $1057.00 pmt, up $23.00 since last Wednesday.
New Orleans IFO380 climbed for a fifth consecutive market day rising $1.50 to $644.50 pmt, an increase of $7.50 week-on-week, and $11.50 higher than the price on December 31, 2012. LS380 moved up $3.00 to $741.50 making the premium for the low sulfur grade $97.00 pmt. MGO moved up $3.50 to $1026.50 pmt, up $7.50 since last Wednesday.
Vancouver IFO380 rose for a third consecutive day up $3.00 to $646.00 pmt, making a week-on-week increase of $8.00, and up $11.00 since December 31, 2012. LS380 moved up $6.50 to $885.00 making the premium for the low sulfur product $239.00 pmt. MGO moved up $7.50 to $1085.50 pmt, $23.50 higher than this time last week.
