Essar Shipping Capesize Arrested in Singapore
The capesize bulk carrier Badri Prasad has been arrested in Singapore, according to the latest records from the Supreme Court of Singapore.
The arrest was made on Monday January 18, 2016 at 7:45 pm local time following action by Asialegal LLC.
The 1990-built 151,400 dwt vessel is owned by India-based Essar Shipping, according to data from VesselsValue.com., who asses the bulk carrier to be worth $5.72 million.
The reasons behind the arrest are currently unknown.
The vessel was also arrested in January last year, according to separate reports, after Germany-based Dr Peters took action against Essar Shipping over over a non-payment dispute involving a separate vessel.
The Singapore arrest follows that of Jascon 18 on January 18, 2016.
In that case, Ship & Bunker has been informed that the vessel was released last Friday afternoon.
Last week Ship & Bunker reported that Jascon 18's original owners, who are being retained by the new owners while construction is fully completed, said the arrest was "without merit."
