Supplier Relocates Barge to Meet Change in Demand
GAC Bunker Fuels and its local partner in Sri Lanka, Interocean Energy (IOE), says it has moved the bunker barge MT Kandy to Galle in response to the growing demand for bunker supplies at the port on the southern tip of the island.
GAC said the barge's relocation from Colombo was in direct response to increased volumes, rising demand, and expanding marine operations in the region.
It also comes ahead of the launch of GAC Bunker Fuels' new supply service at the nearby port of Hambantota, which it says is expected in the coming four to six weeks.
Bunkering at Sri Lanka's newest port has been much delayed, having originally planned to begin in 2012.
GAC launched its office in Galle in 2012.
The MT 'Kandy' is equipped to store, transport and deliver 770 metric tonnes (mt) of IFO 380 cst bunkers, 250 mt of MGO, and 50 mt of fresh water.
