Fukuoka, Japan-based Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. (EMP) has announced that it has finalised a range of bunker saving marine solar power and related products.

The solutions include Aquarius Marine Solar Power, and Aquarius MAS + Solar in addition to standalone products such as class-approved marine batteries and marine solar panel frame kits.

The Aquarius Marine Solar Power unit is a stand-alone solar power system that is not integrated with other shipboard systems but provides a DC output that can be connected to a DC load or, through an inverter, to an AC load.

The Aquarius MAS + Solar unit includes the elements of the Aquarius Marine Solar Power product along with additional hardware and interfaces that can fuel flow meters, GPS, and other on-board equipment.

These products allow users to use solar power to record fuel consumption, calculate emissions, and monitor data such as main engine revolutions, generator output and other equipment.

EMP said the products can be installed on new-build ships or retrofitted to existing vessels, and can be scaled to suit a wide variety of ships including passenger ferries, cruise ships, tankers, bulk ore carriers, and offshore support vessels.

The systems include a marine computer, battery chargers, batteries, marine-grade solar panels, as well as interfaces to other equipment and sensors.

EMP say that along with KEI System, The Furukawa Battery Company and Teramoto Iron Works, it will exhibit the complete range of marine solar power products at the upcoming Sea Japan 2016 event in Tokyo in April.

In April of 2014 Ship & Bunker reported EMP had first publicly displayed its sustainable shipping technology concepts.
