Gazpromneft Performs First At-Berth Bunkering Operation at Bronka
Gazpromneft Marine Bunker (Gazpromneft) Friday announced that the company has performed the first bunkering operation at berth at Bronka, a multipurpose sea cargo complex in the Big Port St. Petersburg.
Gazpromneft says it bunkered Finnstar, a 9,653 DWT ferry operated by Finnlines Plc (Finnlines) between Travemunde and Helsinki, with 750 tonnes of heavy fuel oil and 80 tonnes of diesel.
Gazpromneft's CEO Andrei Vasiliev said the bunkering operation marked an important development for St. Petersburg's transport infrastructure, adding that the company views Bronka as "one of the promising areas" within the Northwest region.
Previously bunkering at Bronka was only via road tank wagons (RTW).
Bronka is currently undergoing an expansion, which is said to be expected to boost the port's capacity to 1.45 million TEU and 260,000 units of Ro-Ro cargoes by the end of phase one of the project, and 1.9 million TEU by the end of phase two.
Last week, Ship & Bunker reported that the Baltic Fuel Company Group (BFC) received a permit from Russia's Federal Marine and River Transport Agency to construct and implement operations of a bunker terminal on the Turukhtanniye Islands, located within the waters of the Big Port St. Petersburg.
