Bunker Dispute Ends in Singapore Vessel Arrest
A bunker dispute earlier this month resulted in the 3,100 DWT general cargo ship Stas being arrested in Singapore, the local law firm responsible for the action has confirmed to Ship & Bunker.
Records from the Singapore's Supreme Court showed the arrest took place on August 15, 2015 at 9:00pm local time following action by Gurbani & Co., who also told Ship & Bunker that the vessel was released on Friday August 21 following a settlement with the supplier.
Separate sources understood to be familiar with the matter have indicated the dispute involved an Estonia-based supplier who was claiming for unpaid bunkers totalling some $21,000.
The 2008 built, Panama flagged Stas is valued at $2.41 million and her registered owner is Norfolk International Holding, data from VesselsValue.com shows.
The vessel is now laden and underway to Vietnam.
The arrest is the second this month following action taken against the COSCO Shipping Company Limited (COSCOL) heavy lift ship, M/V Xia Zhi Yuan 6.
